Douglas Council is trying to find someone to help keep its Housing Committee ‘accountable and transparent’.
It wants to appoint an independent member – that person much be a social housing tenant in Douglas.
Housing Committee Chairman Claire Wells says: "Having an independent member serving on the committee supports the council’s corporate plan objective to be accountable and transparent in all that it does.
"Douglas is the Island’s largest housing authority with a social housing stock of more than 2,300 properties, so the role of independent member is an important one as he or she will bring greater visibility to our tenants and serve as their “voice” in the committee’s deliberations.
"Importantly the member will be making a valuable contribution to the council’s commitment to provide good quality, affordable housing."
The committee meets around 10 times each year – the position is voluntary.
The closing date for applications is February 1st.
