Police urge motorists to take extra time on Richmond Hill

by isleofman.com 10th January 2019

Police say a temporary speed restriction on Richmond Hill will add just one minute onto motorists’ journeys.

The route has been changed to a 30mph after resurfacing work in the area.

Officers have asked people to slow down in the area and confirmed they will be using marked and unmarked vehicles to catch those speeding.

They say they are also considering closing one of the lanes.

It follows complaints that people overtaking on the route are causing damage to other vehicles by chipping their paintwork.

In a statement on Facebook officers write: “We would ask that you show patience for the extra minute it takes to travel through the area at 30 mph.

“We would prefer not to prosecute in matters such as this but road traffic laws such as speed limits must be obeyed and we will enforce when and if it is necessary.”
