The Isle of Man Post Office will hold a day of ‘intense negotiation talks’ today to try and stop the strike which is planned.
It’s strongly refuted claims from the Communication Workers Union that it’s rejected the opportunity to have ‘meaningful’ talks.
Discussions on job evaluation with the CWU, which is one aspect of the proposals, took place on Monday.
MHK Julie Edge is Chairman of the Isle of Man Post Office – she says: “We wish to avoid this week’s planned strike action and the disruption this will have on our valued customers, especially at our busiest time of the year.
“We are disappointed that the CWU has claimed we have rejected the offer of talks when they are already ongoing. It is completely untrue.
“The Executive Team have been negotiating with the CWU for the past 18 months and it has always been the intention to bring key aspects of the five year strategy, which requires Tynwald approval, to the Honourable Court in due course.”
