Dandara teams up with Salvation Army to spread festive cheer

by isleofman.com 11th December 2018

Demand for help around the Christmas period is growing.

That’s the message from The Salvation Army which says more and more people are seeking assistance.

This year Dandara is once again backing the charity appeal by donating money to buy toys, gifts, wrapping paper and chocolates for families and vulnerable people in the community.

The donation will also go towards providing the Boxing Day meal which is put on for people who are elderly or alone at Christmas.

Lieutenant Dylan Nieuwoudt of the Salvation Army says: “The demand for our Christmas appeal on the Isle of Man continues to grow as more and more people seek our assistance.

“It’s not right that anyone should go hungry on Christmas Day or a child go without a simple gift, and the Island’s generosity is key in ensuring as many people as possible can celebrate.

“Once again we are delighted with Dandara’s support of our Christmas appeal.

“This generosity makes a huge difference to the countless families, vulnerable people and elderly in the Island who simply don’t have the means to celebrate this year.

“It is fantastic to see Dandara’s commitment to this cause and we are thrilled to have them on board again this year.”

Seamus Nugent, Managing Director at Dandara, says: “Although this time of year is synonymous with spending time with loved ones and enjoying the festivities, unfortunately not everyone is in a position to do this.

“The Salvation Army works tirelessly all year round, and particularly at Christmas, to ensure as many people as possible can celebrate, and we are delighted to once again support its efforts.”
