No plans for tax on palm oil says government

by isleofman.com 22nd November 2018

The Manx Government is not considering introducing a tax on palm oil.

That’s according to the Treasury Minister Alf Cannan.

He was quizzed on the subject by Rushen MHK, and Speaker of the House of Keys, Juan Watterson in Tynwald this week.

Mr Watterson wanted to know what powers the government had to introduce the levy and whether it was under consideration.

In a written response Mr Cannan said the Isle of Man could seek to introduce certain new indirect taxes but any such agreement would have to be agreed by both the UK and Manx Governments.
