Douglas to host new ice sculpture

by isleofman.com 22nd November 2018

There’ll be ‘something in the air’ in Strand Street on Saturday, December 1st.

An ice sculpture, carved by local artists Stephanie Quayle and Darren Jackson, will take centre stage over the course of the day.

Sponsored by Wi-Manx the block of ice will be transformed and become ‘plane’ to see.

Town Centre Manager Oliver Cheshire says: “We’re very grateful to Wi-Manx for their continued support of what is always a crowd-pleasing event.

“Stephanie and Darren’s ice carvings are famed internationally for being truly spectacular.

“They’ll be working on the corner of Regent Street and Strand Street, starting at 7am, and by around 10am will have completed the sculpture which will look absolutely amazing come the evening when it’s lit up and provides some memorable photo opportunities.”

Last year’s ice sculpture was a train – and this year’s will stick to the transport theme.
