Sefton Group to help serve up Christmas dinner for Salvation Army

by isleofman.com 15th November 2018

The Sefton Group is supporting this year’s Salvation Army Christmas Relief programme.

It will be helping supply the annual Boxing Day lunch by donating, and cooking, turkey and by donating potatoes.

The lunch will be served to around 70 service users at the Salvation Army’s temporary headquarters at Fairfield School on Tynwald Street.

Senior General Manager Gareth Capper said: “The Salvation Army works tirelessly all year round, helping the lonely, the vulnerable and the excluded.

“The positive impact their services have on people’s lives is all the more remarkable given the challenging funding environment in which they, and many other local charitable organisations, are having to operate today.

“At Christmas time those most in need in our community can feel isolated, so we are pleased to be joining forces once again with Lieutenant Rachael Nieuwoudt and her team at the Salvation Army to play our part in supporting their Christmas Relief programme.

Executive Head Chef Chris Swinden said: “All of the kitchen brigades are pleased to be helping the Salvation Army make Christmas a little more special.

“The Sefton Group is renowned as the Island’s leading hospitality provider of major functions.

“Our teams are experienced in serving great food to large numbers and we will ensure that we deliver our customary high standards to the Salvation Army’s guests on Boxing Day.”

Lieutenant Rachael Nieuwoudt said: “The Salvation Army in Douglas provides a Christmas meal each year for the lonely and disenfranchised.

“Our aim is to share Christmas joy and the love of Jesus with people who may otherwise spend Christmas alone.

“This is all made possible by the generosity of the public, an amazing team of volunteers and the support from local businesses such as the Sefton Group, to whom we are extremely grateful for their continued support.”
