United voice needed to tackle climate change

by isleofman.com 15th November 2018

One united voice is needed to address the Isle of Man’s ‘urgent need’ to fight climate change.

That’s the opinion of the IoM Climate Change Coalition which has formed to encourage and support government to address climate change.

It says it wants to work in three areas – reducing emissions, investing in renewables and keeping sustainability promises to UNESCO.

The group contains members from Friends of the Earth, the Manx Labour Party, Green Party, Woodland Trust, Manx Energy Advice, Christian Aid, One World Centre and Amnesty IOM.

It says it’s concerned about government’s lack of urgency in reducing carbon emissions and moving to a low carbon society.

A public meeting is being held on November 22nd at the Legion Hall in Douglas between 7.30pm and 10pm for people who want to find out more.

Admission is free.
