Potential Public Defender's Unit under the spotlight

by isleofman.com 13th November 2018

The President of the Law Society will give evidence to a Tynwald committee which is considering the idea of a Public Defender’s Unit.

Jane Gray will speak to the Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Justice Committee on November 19th.

She’ll be joined by members of the Law Society Council.

The committee is currently investigating legal services on the Island.

In December it will also hear from the First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls Andrew Corlett, Deemster Alastair Montgomerie, Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes and Chief Registrar Stuart Quayle.

The hearings will take place in the Legislative Council Chamber – members of the public are welcome to attend.
