by isleofman.com 7th November 2018

A steam turbine at the Energy from Waste Plant caught fire yesterday.

Firefighters were called to the Richmond Hill facility just before 10am.

Staff had managed to extinguish the blaze before they arrived however the machinery was retaining heat and likely to reignite.

Firefighters removed insulating lagging and checked for hot spots with thermal imaging cameras allowing the turbine to cool down in a controlled manner.
