Remembrance Sunday parade details released

by isleofman.com 26th October 2018

Douglas Borough Council has announced details of its Remembrance Sunday service.

It will take place on Sunday, November 11th.

A parade will form at Market Hill at 9.15am and move off at 9.30am.

A church service will commence at 10am and be coordinated by Canon Philip Frear with the Archdeacon of the Isle of Man, the Ven Andrew Brown, offering prayers.

The service will end at 10.40am to allow time for those present to parade to the Douglas war memorial to observe the two minutes’ silence at 11am.

This will be followed by the laying of wreaths.

The final parade will then form on the promenade roadway alongside the war memorial and, after the salute is taken opposite the Gaiety Theatre by the Mayor of Douglas Jon Joughin, the parade will proceed into Marina Road and retrace the route to Market Hill.

In the event of adverse weather any or all of the parades may be abandoned.

The observance of the two minutes’ silence at the war memorial will, however, proceed.
