Police aim to 'educate drivers' about cyclists

by isleofman.com 24th October 2018

Police have launched a new initiative to ‘educate drivers’ on the safest way to overtake cyclists.

Operation Safe Pass started yesterday.

A police officer will be riding around roads on the Island – if a vehicle passes them too closely the vehicle will be stopped and the driver will be spoken to.

Officers will then use a specially designed mat which shows the safe passing distances to reinforce their message.

In a post on Facebook they say: "We hope this will make the Island a safer place for all."
