'Burnt foodstuff' to blame for flat evacuation

by isleofman.com 15th October 2018

Residents at a block of flats in Douglas were evacuated in the early hours of yesterday morning after someone left a pan on a hob.

Firefighters were called to Queen’s Apartments just before 1.15am after the fire alarm activated.

They entered a heavily smoke logged flat and located the occupier who required oxygen therapy for smoke inhalation.

A ban of ‘burnt foodstuff’ was found on an electric hob.

The apartment was ventilated and residents were allowed to return sometime later.
