Students invited to apply for the Appleby Academy

by isleofman.com 13th September 2018

Sixth form students on the Isle of Man are being offered the opportunity to gain work experience with a global organisation.

Offshore law firm Appleby is opening the doors of its Appleby Academy to one student next summer.

The programme runs in partnership with the charity Junior Achievement – the academy launched in 2012.

Year 13 students must register their interest and then investigate a business challenge set out by the law firm.

The top three students will then deliver a presentation to a panel of judges – the winner receives a paid summer placement.

Faye Moffett, Managing Partner of Appleby’s Isle of Man office, says: “We are delighted to launch the Appleby Academy for the seventh consecutive year and are looking forward to meeting the next set of applicants.

“Supporting and nurturing young people and helping them to build confidence and develop and progress their business skills is key to our ethos, and the Appleby Academy does a great job in achieving this.

“The skills and experience students gain throughout the programme will be beneficial for any career, whether you are planning to go to university, stay in further education on the Isle of Man or go straight into work.”

Sue Cook, Chief Executive at Junior Achievement Isle of Man, added: “Appleby does a fantastic job of fostering local talent and we are delighted to work with them once again for the Appleby Academy.

“This programme provides students with great experience and helps to develop key skills that are desired in the workplace – good luck to all applicants!”

The deadline for registration is Friday, October 5th – for more information click HERE
