Residents warned to be wary of bogus council officials

by isleofman.com 4th September 2018

Residents in Douglas have been urged to be wary of anyone knocking at their door claiming to be from the council.

Police say they've been made aware that a person may be pretending to be a housing officer from Douglas Corporation.

Officers say the individual may be calling at addresses asking to conduct house inspections without any prior warning.

Douglas Corporation say all visits to their tenants will be by prior appointment only - and the latest appointment of the day would be around 4.30pm.

Staff are also carrying official identification.

Anyone who sees anything suspicious - or has someone calling at their address - is asked to contact the Housing Office on 696435 or the police for assistance.
