Firefighters warn against burning waste incorrectly

by isleofman.com 20th August 2018
Firefighters were called to a bonfire on Friday after reports of thick black smoke.

They attended the area of Great Meadow at 4.40pm – the bonfire contained a large number of vehicle tyres.

After liaising with the landowner the fire was extinguished.

Waste producers are being reminded that they have a responsibility under the Public Health Act to ensure waste is disposed of correctly.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service says burning is not an acceptable, safe or sustainable waste disposal option.
