Safety warning over defective throw lines

by isleofman.com 15th August 2018

People who use throw bag rescue lines are being advised of potentially defective equipment.

The Office of Fair Trading says it wants to warn owners and operators of commercial and recreational craft – as well as rowing and swimming clubs and adventure centres.

The UK’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch has issued a safety warning about defective throw bag rescue lines – which could have potentially serious consequences.

The OFT says rescue lines should be inspected and tried regularly to ensure they are fit for purpose – any found to be defective should be reported to the OFT on 686500.
