More than 800 local employers are being asked to tell government how much they pay their staff.

It's part of the annual earnings survey which is being conducted by the Cabinet Office.

Letters will be sent to the last known employer of 2,500 people – the identity of all employers and employees is kept confidential throughout the process.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle says: "This survey will provide an important snapshot of earnings in the Isle of Man in 2018.

"The results will also help us to compare salaries in the Island with those in the UK.

"This government is focused on supporting economic growth and creating well-paid jobs.

"Promoting enterprise and opportunity is good for our people, good for local business and helps government to sustain quality public services."

Businesses are legally required to supply the information requested under the Statistics Act 1999.
