Coastguard plea to parents after busy spell

by isleofman.com 25th July 2018

Parents are being urged to talk to their children about the dangers of swimming in the sea.

Douglas Coastguard has issued the plea after responding to five incidents within days of the summer holidays starting.

Three of the call outs involved children.

Yesterday afternoon coastguard officers were called to the Peveril Steps in Douglas after reports of kids in difficulty.

They say fortunately they managed to get themselves back to shore without incident.

In a statement on Facebook a spokesperson said: "Please advise your children that it’s great to be outdoors having fun but please consider what they are doing as if it goes wrong they don’t just get another life like on their PlayStations or Xboxes."
