Tributes are being paid to a popular TT rider who died at the weekend.

William Dunlop died following injuries sustained during a practice session at the Skerries 100 Road Races on Saturday.

Dunlop was a familiar face on the Isle of Man having taken part in both the TT and the Southern 100.

He made his debut on the Billown Course in 2004.

Club Chairman George Peach says: "It is extremely sad news to hear that William has succumbed to injuries received on his return to racing it is hard to find words to pay tribute to such a likeable rider.

"No matter what William always had a smile for everyone, he was a passionate and dedicated rider who could compete with and earned the respect of his rivals.

"William will be much missed, but his friendship will be fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.

"We pass on our sincere condolences to his partner Janine and daughter Ella, his close family and friends at this very sad time."
