Police are warning people to be vigilant during the good weather.

They say burglars and opportunistic thieves may take advantage of people opening their doors and windows in a bid to cool their homes.

Officers are urging people to use window catches if they are fitted.

In a post on Facebook they say: "Don’t let the great weather be the cause of misery – stay safe, stay secure."
