Discarded BBQ sparks gorse fire

by isleofman.com 28th June 2018

Firefighters spent four hours tackling a gorse fire yesterday – after someone threw a BBQ over a cliff.

Crews were called into action at 3.20am after reports of a blaze near to Port Grenaugh Beach.

Due to the location they needed two off-road vehicles and a water bowser.

The Fire and Rescue Service says it believes the fire was started due to the ‘careless disposal’ of a single use barbeque.

It’s urging people to use extreme caution during the continued spell of fine weather.
