Travel information sharing pilot is shelved

by isleofman.com 20th June 2018

A pilot project which worked to share information about people travelling to and from the Isle of Man has been closed.

That’s the message from the Policy and Reform Minister.

Chris Thomas has confirmed the initial Travel Information Scheme has been shelved in favour of something more formal with dedicated legislation.

During 2017 and early 2018 officers from The Cabinet Office, the Department of Home Affairs and the Isle of Man Constabulary met to develop the initial plan.

It was after concerns were raised that the Island’s borders were being threatened.

The Cabinet Office says the quality of the information from both air and sea travel lists wasn’t good enough for the needs of the police in some cases.
