Fundraising campaign for TT rider tops ?28K

by isleofman.com 19th June 2018

The wife of injured TT rider Steve Mercer has revealed she can’t update fans as to his progress.

Caroline Mercer took to Facebook to say she won't make any further statements whilst ongoing investigations continue.

Last week it was revealed that ACU Limited is conducting an independent investigation into the crash between the rider and a course car during a practice session.

It’s believed police and other Isle of Man authorities are also investigating.

Caroline wrote: "So that those enquiries can proceed without distraction, in accordance with legal advice taken, we regret that we will not able to post progress reports at this stage.

"Please be reassured that we are forced to take this step to ensure that justice is served; not only for Steve but for the great deal of many other people touched by this very tragic event.

"Normal updates will resume as soon as we are permitted to post again."

A JustGiving campaign to raise money for Steve has raised over ?28,000.

Singer James Blut has also leant his support to fundraising efforts during a visit to the Island yesterday by signing a number of prints for auction.
