Independent investigations will be carried out to determine how a TT racer was seriously injured this year.
ACU Ltd – the organising body of the TT Races - has confirmed an inquiry will take place into the crash between racer Steve Mercer and a course car.
He was seriously injured during a practice session on May 29th and remains in a Liverpool hospital.
The inquiry will be led by senior motorsport executive Rob Jones - a former president of the Ethics Commission of the FIA which is motorsport’s world governing body.
He’ll investigate the events surrounding the incident, identify any lessons learnt and make recommendations on any issues around race organisation and safety matters for future events.
ACU Events chairman Brian Higgins says: "We feel it is vital the right lessons are not only learnt but acted upon to ensure the highest possible safety standards at future events.
"The best way to achieve that is by an independent inquiry."
Police and the Isle of Man Authorities are also investigating the incident.
