The Duke of Cambridge played an integral part in yesterday's record breaking TT Zero.

Prince William dropped the starting flag for the one-lap race.

It was won by Michael Rutter who became the first rider to clock a 120mph plus lap on his Mugen machine.

Speaking afterwards Rutter says: "It was drummed into me all week that the team wanted to break the lap record so it's been a hard week with only one practice lap.

"I had a sleepless night last night.

"Every time you go out on the course you pick up something new, or try something different and Mugen pulled it all out today.

"I wasn't hanging around and it was quite scary in places."

Second place went to Daley Mathison with the third podium spot going to Lee Johnston.

Johnston secured his position despite experiencing problems at the Bungalow – two spectators held his bike whilst Johnston carried out on the spot repairs.  

The future King of England was also on hand to present the trophies on the TT Podium.
