Police have thanked members of the public for their help after a fatal crash on the Mountain Road on Sunday.

A motorcyclist from Merseyside was involved in a three-vehicle crash between the Creg Ny Baa and Brandish corner at around 11.20am.

He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Noble's Hospital where he died later that day.

The driver of the van and the Ford Kuga, who were also involved in the collision, were uninjured – all three vehicles were travelling in the same direction.

Chief Inspector Dave Dobbie says: "I thank the members of the public who stopped and assisted with scene and giving first aid.

"If anyone who saw the incident who has not already given their details are asked to contact Police Headquarters on 01624 631212.

"Our thoughts are with all involved in this very sad incident."
