Firefighters urge vigilance ahead of TT

by isleofman.com 22nd May 2018

Firefighters are urging people to be 'extra vigilant' ahead of the TT period.

It's after a busy weekend of call-outs.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service was called out on Friday to a blaze at a unit on Jurby Industrial Estate which had spread into other neighbouring units.

Just after 11am the following day they were called to Andreas Airfield after a fire at a scrap metal company.

Firefighters in Castletown attended an embankment fire in Ballasalla on Saturday which required an off-road firefighting appliance.

Crews were also called to a block of flats on Queens Promenade in Douglas just after 11pm - the whole building was evacuated due to a faulty light fitting.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service says at this time of year small fires spread quickly and with the biggest event of the year approaching these incidents have a 'huge impact' on resources.
