After 17 years of service, the Board is saddened to announce the departure of Sandra Donnelly as Mill Manager.
Sandra joined the Mill working in quality control and worked her way up through the ranks to Mill Manager and Director. Sandra has proven a steady influence in the Mill and provided a degree of technical competence that many other mills would be jealous of. In recent years, Sandra has overseen lots of technical innovation, working closely with customers to produce new products, which even involved a Countryfile appearance showcasing the milling of rye, a first for the Isle of Man.
Sandra resigned from her Director role in the last year and reduced her hours to part-time to focus on family and other commitments and will complete her phased withdrawal from the mill on the 22nd of December.
Providing this transitional step towards her departure has allowed the Board to set in motion a succession plan and provided an opportunity to review the function and operation of the Mill.
Under the tutelage of Sandra, the Mill is now endowed with a small and dedicated multi-skilled workforce who will take on the management functions of the Mill while the review of operations is completed. Jason Duke will take on the operational management role, whilst Lisa Corkill will manage the finance and sales side of the business for the next three months.
Changing market conditions in the bread and flour sector have seen declining market share which now require the mill to refocus its efforts and this review period will see the completion of a new marketing plan and investment schedule for packaging plant to ensure that Laxey Glen Mills can continue to support a strong local cereal sector and baking industry.
The Board wish Sandra all the best with her future ventures and are looking forward to working with the new management team.
