Vehicle registration search now available online

by isleofman.com 13th December 2017

As part of the continuing development of the Government’s Digital Strategy Isle of Man residents are now able to search online for details of any Manx-registered vehicle.

Simply clicking on the Vehicle Search page on Government’s online services and entering the relevant registration number will allow users to access non-personal data on the vehicle of their choice. This includes information such as make and model, colour, engine size, fuel type and CO2 emission details.

The service will also show the date of first registration in the Isle of Man and, if applicable, the date of first registration in the UK or elsewhere.

Users will not be able to see any personalised information, such as the current or previous owners’ name and address.

The new service is aimed at both the motor trade and members of the public, assisting anyone involved in the buying or selling of pre-owned vehicles.

The service is similar to a service currently available through the UK’s DVLA www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla

The introduction of the online vehicle search is the first of a number of new Driver and Vehicle initiatives being introduced by the Department of Infrastructure. Details of these are expected early in the New Year.
