by isleofman.com 5th December 2017

The Isle of Man Government is seeking to recruit a new Chief Executive to lead the future development of the Communications Commission.

Dr Carmel McLaughlin is retiring from her role as Director of the Communications Commission at the end of the year.

Dr McLaughlin has enjoyed a distinguished career in communications regulation. She served in senior roles with Ofcom in London and the Commission for Communications Regulation in Dublin before taking up her appointment in the Isle of Man in July 2008.

The Communications Commission is a Statutory Board of the Isle of Man Government and has responsibility for the licensing and regulation of telecommunications and broadcasting in the Island.

Dr McLaughlin said: ‘I have enjoyed working in what is an important and rapidly evolving environment. I am looking forward to being able to spend more time travelling, so that I can visit my family who are spread across the four corners of the globe.’

Bill Malarkey MHK, Chairman of the Communications Commission, thanked Dr McLaughlin for her years of service to the Isle of Man.

He said: ‘Dr McLaughlin has presided over many changes in the telecommunications and broadcasting industry both on and off Island and we wish her a long and happy retirement. The Board is currently finalising the job description and will be advertising the post shortly. We will be looking for an exceptional candidate to continue the positive work that has taken place over recent years.’
