After a rigorous selection process, in rather damp conditions, the nine Scouts who will represent the Isle of Man at the World Scout Jamboree in 2019 have been selected.
The nine Scouts (pictured) will represent the Island, led by Island leader Alex Armstrong, at this major international event that will see between 30,000 and 50,000 Scouts and Leaders from over 150 different countries gather for two weeks of international bonding, promoting friendship, sustainability and adventure. The Jamboree aims to unite the world’s young people to promote peace, mutual
understanding and respect in a warmly embracing Scouting experience.
The Scouts, who will form part of the UK Contingent, will be retaining their Manx identity through their uniforms and scarfs with the 3 legs clearly visible. They will be flying the flag for the Island at every stage; acting as ambassadors and promoting the Island to the global audience.
The Scouts now have 18 months of hard work to train, meet their UK counterparts and fundraise for the event.

Alex, Unit Leader, said: “I am very excited about the Youth Members selected, it was a very difficult decision given the calibre of all candidates but those chosen have shown great teamwork and leadership skills, commitment to Scouting, a passion for promoting the Island on an international level and being challenged to think about today’s global issues in a new light.”
Izzy, one of the lucky Scouts selected, said: “At first I couldn't quite believe it. I had to check the letter again, that's when the excitement
really hit. I can't wait! Scouting has opened so many doors for me and provided me with great opportunities. This will be an adventure of a life time! Hello America 2019!!”
