Michael Heritage Trust stages an annual exhibition, and this year the event on 28th and 29th October was titled "Making an Exhibition of Ourselves," to celebrate the Trust's 20th anniversary in 2017.
Selected photos from previous events were on display, and were of great interest to the many people who visited St. Michael's Hall over the weekend. On each day, two well known 'Michael Men' shared their reminiscences of growing up in the parish. David Cannan and Bert Quayle chatted to the crowd on Saturday, whilst Andrew Williamson and Alan Crowe shared the spotlight on Sunday. On both days, visitors were entertained, and enthralled to learn about village life at a time when Kirk Michael had even more shops and industries than at present, and some real Manx 'characters.' Both 'short' sessions lasted for nearly an hour, and such was the interest that they could have gone on into the evening! The talks were recorded by secretary Roy Kennaugh, and will hopefully be enjoyed by historians in the future.
Annual membership of the Trust costs only ?5 annually, and details can be found on Facebook, or from treasurer Mike Clague on tel. 878328.
