Make Memories (and a Wicker Basket…) with your family at Milntown in Half Term

by isleofman.com 18th October 2017
Come and spend a unique day with your little one and enjoy the ancient craft of willow basket making!

Join us for a day at Milntown where you and your little one will create your very own shared willow basket under the expert tutorship of Master Weaver John ‘Dog’ Callister and Kevin Quayle in our marquee. You will have an opportunity to wander around the beautiful gardens during lunch, when you will also both receive a packed lunch to be eaten in the marquee or around the garden.

Milntown, a registered charity and the Islands most historic estate, boasts 15 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland which surround the magnificent mansion at the heart of the estate. As a charity we receive no government funding and our events programme helps raise valuable funds for the upkeep of the House and Gardens.

You can view some of ‘Dog’s’ work on the Estate if you take a trip to the Mill Pond – you will be greeted by our five delightful willow dragonflies. Each of these carefully crafted insects took almost two days to complete.

You will be provided with all the information, the materials and any tools needed.

You will go home with a willow basket you will both be proud of and memories of a wonderful outing to Milntown.
