Police and Education are working together to try and assist parents in identifying the dangers around drugs, alcohol and Child Sexual exploitation.

We are running a set of workshops for parents across the Island. 

PC Griffiths, who is one of the officers running the drug education session, said: “We have been contacted by numerous parents who are worried about their children and the dangers they face in the modern society.  The Department of Education have also been approached and together with the Police a format has been decided.  Currently, Police Officers attend the schools on a weekly basis along with other partner agencies to talk to the young people about the dangers and issues they face.  This is now an equally important opportunity for parents to keep up to date on the current trends.”

The dates for the next sessions:

Tuesday 17th at King Williams College                           6:30pm till 8:30pm
Wednesday 18th Castle Rushen High School                   6:30pm till 8:30pm
Thursday 19th Ballakermeen High School.                      6:30pm till 8:30pm

The first session recently took place at QE2 High School, Peel, and feedback from parents included, “The sessions very useful”, and, “I felt more informed and not as naive as I was before the session.”
