Man dies following Collision on Poortown Road

by isleofman.com 5th October 2017

At around 8:30am this morning, Thursday 5th October 2017, there was a serious road traffic collision on the Poortown Road outside Peel near to the old quarry entrance. The collision involved a car driven by a local female and a pedal cycle ridden by a local male. As a result of this collision the male was taken to hospital and later died as a result of injuries sustained. The driver of the vehicle and passenger were not injured.

The road between the Highwayman roundabout and Ballig Bridge will remain closed while investigations take place.

Isle of Man Police are providing the family of the cyclist with support in relation to this tragic incident and our thoughts are with them.

A fuller press release will be published in due course and at this time we cannot comment further on what remains an active investigation. We would ask that members of the public refrain from any speculation on social media about the causes of this collision.
