Wi-Manx take part in The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

by isleofman.com 5th October 2017

On Friday 29th September staff from leading Island technology provider ‘Wi-Manx’ took part in The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. A fantastic ?60 was raised on the day.

Wi-Manx took part by holding a coffee morning at its office in Douglas where staff baked a range of delectable items, cakes and biscuits ready for the day, which were then brought in and sold to raise monies for the initiative.

The first ever Coffee Morning began in 1990 as a simple idea: guests gathered over coffee and donated the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. The initial year was such a success that the initiative continued and since then this annual event has raised over ?165.5 million for Macmillan. Last year alone the charity raised ?29.5 million and this year it aims to raise even more.

Sarah Read, Wi-Manx Marketing Manager said: "We are always ready to support and take part in fundraising initiatives such as these. We had fun decorating the office and enjoying the food baked and brought in by our staff, with one lucky staff member winning the Best Baker Badge 2017, which was incredibly difficult to judge with so many good efforts.”
