A singer from Foxdale known for his performances at the Guild is being confused with an American blues guitarist with the same name!
Members of the public believe Arie Eisinger, a Guild committee member, has swapped his love of opera for blues.
This is because music promoter John Gregory, of Blue John Media, is bringing world-renowned American acoustic blues and ragtime guitarist Ari (spelt differently) Eisinger to the Isle of Man for two concerts at the beginning of October.
It is not believed the two men are related.
John said: “I have been told by a few people that they have seen Ari Eisinger is performing at the Institute in Laxey on Saturday, October 7 and the Erin Arts Centre on Sunday, October 8.
“The problem for me is a number of them believe it is the singer from the Isle of Man rather than the guitar player from Philadelphia.
“I know the Island’s Arie Eisinger is really well known in the singing world, but the audience attending the Ari Eisinger concerts next month will not be hearing any light opera, Victorian ballads or sacred music on this occasion but one of the world’s greatest fingerstyle guitarists instead.
“I wish to thank the island’s Arie for helping me get the message across that it is the American Ari Eisinger performing at the Erin Arts Centre and The Institute.”
Just to confuse matters, the island’s Arie Eisinger has performed at the Erin Arts Centre in the past including in the opera The Magic Flute some years ago. He can also be heard singing at the Guild, many churches – with or without the Meadowside Choral Society which he has been a soloist and member of for 38 years - and at concerts for members of Manx Blind Welfare.
John has invited Arie and his wife Joan to the concert he is promoting at the Erin Arts Centre and has presented them with one of Ari’s CDs.
He added: “I hope this may clear up any confusion and I would strongly encourage people to see both Ari(e) Eisinger’s perform at their respective performances.”
