Isle of Man charity the Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust, which funds hospice at home services in the Island, has been awarded a grant of ?25,000 by the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF)
As part of Freemasonry’s 300th anniversary celebrations, the Masonic Charitable Foundation distributed ?3,000,000 to 300 charities across England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Four Isle of Man charities were shortlisted by the MCF to share ?50,000 in grant awards ranging from ?4,000 up to ?25,000. Members of the public were then invited to vote for their favoured charity and the Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust was fortunate in receiving the greatest number of votes.
On officially receiving the grant at the Isle of Man Freemasons’ Community Awards presentation supper last Saturday evening Ron Spencer, Trust Chairman, said:
‘We are thrilled to receive such magnificent grant. The award of the ?25,000 grant from the Masonic Charitable Foundation is going to make a significant positive impact on our ability to meet the increasing demand for hospice care at home services here in the Isle of Man and allow us to recruit further nursing resource to allow us to extend our services for this next financial year.’
Keith Dalrymple, Provincial Grand Master of the Province of the Isle of Man Freemasons, said:
‘I would like to thank the Manx public and all Freemasons who cast online votes to decide the apportionment of the donations. Freemasonry is proud and delighted to continue to support local charities which make such a valuable contribution to our Island community, especially as we celebrate the 300th Anniversary of our Grand Lodge.’
