Manx Lottery Trust supports Hospice Isle of Man 'From Me to You' projct

by isleofman.com 22nd September 2017

Manx Lottery Trust has supported Hospice Isle of Man’s ‘From Me to You’ project with the provision of funding for an iPad.

‘From Me to You’ addresses psychological and spiritual needs as an individual nears the end of their life, creating the ability to leave messages and record memories for loved ones.  In addition, music and playlists can be compiled, and help further bring to life people’s memories. The tablet is also proving invaluable as part of the Rehabilitation Suite workshops.

Hospice’s Chief Executive Anne Mills said: ‘There is evidence to suggest that as an individual nears the end of life, communication with those they love, and assurance that life has had meaning and purpose, becomes of utmost importance. Since 2007 the Hospice rehabilitation staff have been involved in compiling a permanent record for patients of personal messages and memories for their loved ones.  Technology has advanced since this work began and the iPad has given individuals the opportunity to say what they want in the way they want to say it in an increasingly digital world.’

Lulu Gillow, Chair of the Manx Lottery Trust, said: ‘We were pleased to be able to fund this project and help communication and rehabilitation at Hospice.’
