Countdown is on until M&S Douglas hosts Maxmillan Cancer Support's world's biggest Coffee Morning

by isleofman.com 22nd September 2017

Excitement is building across the country as preparations for Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning get underway. Cake lovers can look forward to a fun-filled, themed event at M&S Douglas on Friday 29 September.

With less than two weeks to go, M&S Douglas is encouraging shoppers to join them for a coffee and a sweet treat as they pull out all the stops, including in-store cycles, colouring-in competitions, live music and prizes for customers.

2017 marks the eighth year that M&S has partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support – a collaboration that has raised an incredible ?10 million for the charity to date. Each year, M&S hosts World’s Biggest Coffee Morning events in its stores across the length and breadth of the country.

The collective efforts of M&S stores and customers helps fund vital support and services for people living with cancer across the UK, which make a huge difference in hospitals and within local communities. This year, M&S and Macmillan are aiming to surpass last year’s fundraising total of ?3.2million - enough to fund 66 Macmillan health care professionals for a year - and hope to see a record number of people in M&S cafes and Foodhalls later this month.

Julie Hodgen, Store Manager at M&S Douglas, said: “We’ll have lots of fun activities happening at our World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event on Friday 29 September, and hope to see as many of our customers as possible as we raise a mug to help beat cancer. The annual Coffee Morning is a great way to bring friends, family and communities together, all whilst raising funds for a fantastic cause. We hope that this year’s event will be our most successful yet!”

Throughout September, M&S customers will be able to enjoy a host of tasty treats in M&S Foodhalls, with 10 percent of each sale going to Macmillan. This includes M&S’s most popular cakes – the Victoria Sandwich and Lemon Drizzle – as well as biscuits, cupcakes and baking mixes. All M&S Cafes will also donate 5p from every hot drink and slice of cake sold during September to Macmillan.

M&S has also launched a range of limited-edition Macmillan homeware items, including a colourful ‘Best Baker’ cake slice, set of 4 cake forks and ‘Love a Cuppa’ mug – perfect for hosting a coffee morning with friends or family. What’s more, an array of chic bag accessories – including keyring and pen – designed by artist Rob Ryan are exclusively available in M&S stores this September, with all proceeds going to Macmillan.

Nicola Keith, Head of Partnership Management at Macmillan Cancer Support, added: “With less than two weeks to go until the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, we want to thank everyone who has signed up to take part. Whether you’re faking it or baking it, celebrating at home or at your local M&S store, every slice of cake or cup of coffee helps us raise vital funds and makes a huge difference to those affected by cancer.”
