The club's annual junior championships, sponsored by Auxesia Ltd, got off to a good start on Saturday with fine weather and some of the younger players showing a bit of "know how" with court craft.

Cameron Roome and Henry Davies had a very good match. They are under 10s (green ball players)  but had also entered the U12s. having lost their 1st round matches to stronger players they met in the play back/consolation round. Cameron started well winning the first set 4/1 but Henry fought back to take the second set 4/2.

So the match needed a champion's tie-break to settle it. Cameron set off at a good pace and lead 8-3, then Henry dragged it back to 9-8 before Cameron won 10-8. They showed they are keen to battle back when losing. With the format both boys have a third match and they will have gained a lot of experience. It's one thing to have coaching from our experienced club coach, Ian Watson but matches is the way to add to your skills. Well done boys - I enjoyed watching you.
