Mylchreests Mounted Games Winter League returns for a second season

by isleofman.com 21st September 2017

Registrations are now being taken for the 2017-2018 Mylchreests Mounted Games Winter League.

Following a successful first season, the games are back, with more challenging races planned to encourage a competitive – but friendly! – spirit among the young riders.

Ballavartyn Equestrian Centre will once again play host to the Mounted Games Winter League for the 2017/2018 season.

Supported by the Mylchreests Group, the Mounted Games League is open to a maximum of 50 riders who will compete in teams in a series of mounted races, including bending through poles, moving balanced cups along a course, stepping stones, and ‘sock in a bucket’.

Organiser Stella Hampton said: ‘We had so much fun last winter holding the Mounted Games league, and thanks to the continued generous support from Mylchreests, we will once again be taking over Ballavartyn once a month. The season will run from October through to March, with teams battling it out for the coveted first prize.’

The first games evening is scheduled for 20th October from 6.00pm-8.00pm, and is open to riders aged 7-18. Entrants are welcome from Isle of Man Pony Club and Pony Club Centres across the Island.

Registration for the Winter League closes on 7th October. Spectators are welcome to come and watch the fun from the viewing gallery in the Ballavartyn Cafe.
