by isleofman.com 12th September 2017

With just eight months to the deadline when companies must demonstrate compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Moore Stephens will join forces with UK IP and technology Lawyer, Dai Davis, to host a full-day of training with full CPD credit on 26 September to assist the Island’s businesses deal with this new EU regulation.

Non-compliance with the new GDPR could cost the Island’s businesses dearly.

“Data protection on steroids is how some people see GDPR,” says Daryl Richards, compliance officer at Moore Stephens, “GDPR takes a wide view of what constitutes personal identification information, how it can be handled, stored or subsequently used, giving consumers the opportunity to take back control of their personal data.”

As an IP and technology lawyer, Dai Davis brings a very unique blend of qualifications. With a degree in Computer Science, he is also a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology as well as a Member of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists. Dai has consistently been recommended in the Legal 500 and in Chambers Guides to the legal profession.

“It’s a very important topic and to make it even more complicated GDPR leaves much to interpretation, which gives regulators considerable scope when levying fines,” comments Scott Trimble, head of compliance at Moore Stephens.

The full day of training, which includes a 3-course lunch and afternoon refreshments, costs ?175+VAT. There are also morning and afternoon sessions dependent on availability for ?90+VAT.
