In October 2016 four young puppies were dumped in a tied plastic bag in the North of the Island. Luckily they were discovered by a member of the public who witnessed the incident.
The puppies arrived at the ManxSPCA in a critical condition and staff cared for them for nine weeks before they were able to be rehomed to their adoptive families. The puppies were only three days old when they came to the Society and staff looked after them intensively night and day, bottle feeding them every couple of hours. The puppies also received regular health checks and veterinary treatment.
The adoptive families were selected when the puppies were seven weeks old and they were provided with regular updates. Each family also visited their chosen puppy as much as possible before finally taking him/her home in early December 2016.
Tate, Jake, Izzy and Bella are now coming up to one year old and to celebrate we are holding a birthday party on Sunday 1stOctober 2017 in our Play Barn at Ard Jerkyll. The event will be held from 2.00pm to 4.00pm and invitations have been sent out to the adoptive families, ManxSPCA staff and volunteers, and the Police officers involved in the investigation
The public are also welcome to attend the event and to meet the puppies. Charlotte’s Doggy Day Care will be supplying dog cupcakes and each dog who attends will also receive a party bag. Light refreshments will be available in the PlayBarn for humans too, and the ManxSPCA’s dog-friendly Tearooms will be serving its delicious home-cooked breakfasts and lunches from 10.00am.
