by isleofman.com 8th September 2017

On Saturday 23 September Andy Jackson, the current UMCA (Ultra Marathon Cycle Association) 6hr World Champion, and Chris ‘Hoppo’ Hopkinson, four-times finisher of the Race across America, winner of 9 UMCA World Titles and holder of 12 World Records will be among those riding in the Isle of Man CC 12hr Challenge on the TT Mountain Course.

The Cycling Challenge starts at the TT Grandstand at 8.30am. As well as the 12hr challenge there is also a cycle sportive on the TT course for one, two or three laps of the course. Riders in the sportive include Mark Howard, a disabled army veteran and hand cyclist who completed the course in 2016, Steve Wood, an ex-TT racer, and husband and wife Mick and Vicki Boddice both of whose parents won trophies as TT sidecar racers in the 1960s. Catriona Archer from Derbyshire will be the first woman to ride the 12hr challenge solo and several sportive and 12hr riders are using the Cycle Challenge to raise money for charity.

Chris Hopkinsons says ‘I am always looking for new challenges and this is a chance in a million to pit myself against the elements and the iconic IoM Mountain Course'.

Entries are online at www.isleofmancc.com and close at midnight on Wednesday 20 September 2017. Anyone interested in volunteering for the event please contact Laura Mearns on 01684 565 005.
