Zurich International has appointed Peter Huber as Chief Executive.
The announcement comes as the life assurance company prepares to move from Athol Street to its new purpose-built offices on the Isle of Man Business Park.
Peter will lead Zurich’s overall international business which brings together the current international life businesses in the Isle of Man, Middle East and Zurich International Corporate Solutions (including Zurich Eurolife based in Luxembourg) – creating a simpler, more market and customer-orientated organisation. He will report to Patrick Manley, CEO, Zurich Insurance plc & Chief Administrative Officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).
As part of the appointment Peter has moved to the Isle of Man.
Commenting on his relocation Peter said: “I’m looking forward to being close to the team on the Isle of Man at this exciting time for the business as well as building local relationships. The Island offers some great business advantages so I’ll be proud to fly the flag for the Island when I visit other offices and international business partners.”
Peter joined Zurich in July 2013 as CEO Zurich Life Singapore. Since August 2015 Peter has been working as CEO for Zurich Topas Life Indonesia. Bringing with him more than 20 years of industry experience, Peter joined Zurich from Swiss Re, where he was Managing Director in the Reinsurance division based in Switzerland. Prior to that, he was Regional General Manager, Life & Health, Allianz Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore. He started his career in business consulting with Arthur Andersen and then spent 10 years with Swiss Life in various roles. Peter has a Masters degree in commercial law from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland and a Masters degree in Finance from London Business School.
Peter takes over from Clive Baker who, after five years as CEO, has decided to move onto new opportunities.
CEO Zurich Insurance plc & EMEA Chief Administrative Officer Patrick Manley said:
“I am delighted that we have such high calibre leaders as Peter within the Zurich Group. His knowledge and understanding of customers, the market and the company will enable him to work with the team to build on current success. I’d also like to thank Clive for his great leadership over the last five years and wish him every success in his next venture”.
Peter added:
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity ahead and to building on the strengths the Zurich Group already has in international business so that we can continue to deliver market-leading protection and savings solutions to expatriates and internationally mobile individuals and employees of large companies”
