Isle of Man Creamery scoops Golden Fork award for the North of England

by isleofman.com 7th September 2017

Isle of Man Creamery is celebrating being awarded an ‘Oscar’ of the food industry at the Guild of Fine Foods Golden Fork Awards for its whey butter.

Isle of Man Creamery whey butter was entered into the Great Taste Awards at the beginning of 2017 along with over 12,000 other products from across the UK. Results released in August showed that it was one of only 165 products to be awarded a prestigious Three Star Award, and had been ranked in the top 50 food products entered. Being included in this prestigious list meant that it was also in the running for the regional Golden Fork Awards – recognising the best product from the North of England.

The awards dinner was held at the InterContinental London Park Lane on Monday 4th September and Isle of Man Creamery Finance Director Stephen Keeley was in attendance to receive the Golden Fork Award.

Managing Director, Findlay Macleod said: ‘The Great Taste and Golden Fork Awards really are a measure of the best quality products the British Isles has to offer and to be awarded the best product in the North of England is an absolutely fantastic achievement.’

Manx Whey Butter is made from whey cream separated from the whey during the cheese making process. It has a sharper flavour and deeper colour than salted dairy butter.

Comments received from the Great Taste judges include:

“Creamy, thick and faultlessly salted, the perfect ‘cement between the bricks’ in any sandwich.”

“What a fine butter!  There is some really delicious flavour here - full bodied and with 'cheesy' background notes.  Delish!!”

Mr Macleod continued: ‘The feedback received from the Great Taste Judges was fantastic and is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team here at the Creamery and our farmer producers, who ensure that only the freshest, milk from grass fed cows is used to make all of our products.

‘We would also like to congratulate the two other Three Star Award winning products from the Isle of Man, Berries (sea salted caramel sticky toffee pudding) and the Manx Fudge Factory (honey fudge), both of which we are proud to supply.’

Whey butter is available to buy at most local supermarkets and some smaller independent shops. It will also be available to buy at the Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival taking place on the 16th and 17th September at the Villa Marina Gardens.
