Applicants are being sought for a new position that will bring a further degree of challenge and scrutiny to the work of the Isle of Man Government.
The Cabinet Office is looking to recruit a Tynwald Commissioner for Administration to investigate complaints against Government Departments and other public bodies.
The Commissioner will provide independent oversight of administrative processes and decisions. The intention is to make Government more accountable and help to improve the delivery of public services.
The functions and powers of the role are set out in the Tynwald Commissioner for Administration Act 2011.
Candidates must have the ability to analyse complex issues, weigh-up conflicting opinions and identify actions for improvement. A legal qualification and extensive knowledge of the laws of the Isle of Man are essential, along with the ability to command the confidence of the public and Tynwald.
The time commitment for the role may vary considerably, but is expected to be about 10 hours a month. The initial appointment will be for one year, after which time a review will be carried out.
