Cold Calling – Painting Car Park White Lines

by isleofman.com 30th August 2017

The Office of Fair Trading has received reports today of tradesmen visiting and cold calling local businesses offering to paint white lines on their car-parks.

The tradesmen have allegedly suggested that they have been recently employed as subcontractors by the Department of Infrastructure and are able to do the work as they have materials left over from other jobs.

The Department of Infrastructure has not employed any subcontractors to carry out this type of work.  Anyone in trade that falsely claims this type of approval may commit offences under the Consumer Protection (Trade Descriptions) Act 1970.  Any business approached in this way is asked to contact the Office of Fair Trading for further advice on 686500.
